It's a Movement. Not a Moment.

How to keep supporting black lives after this news cycle :

2020 is going to be a THICK chapter in the history books. We are amidst a strong second wave of the Civil Rights Movement and have the advancements of technology to further help the movement along. But I don’t want this to be just a moment. Or something we bring up during Black History Month. Or the side blurb in a civil rights history chapter. I want black lives to matter everyday of every week of every month of every year! But how to we accomplish something that has never been done ?

Look. I don’t have all the answers and I don’t pretend to. But I do have a platform, a voice, and the freedom to do what I please with them. So I have decided to highlight a black business once a month. This is a way to keep myself accountable in supporting black businesses (this is always on my vision board!) and to bring awareness to the black community that has been working for the movement. No more excuses! I’ll no longer be able to say, “oh I didn’t know this brand existed” or “I can’t afford to”. God blessed me to be able to work during quarantine, pay my tithes, and save money. And I’m deciding to invest in my community.

This is something that EVERYONE can do! Regardless of race, we all need products and content and things! Black people have been buying from white businesses forever. So our allies can support black businesses as well! And I’ll make it super easy by linking the product, business, or content credit in each blog post.

I have been so inspired by the people in my life who have stepped up during this time in support of this Civil Rights Movement Part 2. And I know I need to do my part and hopefully encourage others to do the same. Be blessed and stay woke!
